This course introduces the student to key concepts, practices, and issues in finance. Basic topics covered include: capital and financial market systems, investment banking, interest rates, public offering, private placements, valuation of financial assets, investment in long-term assets, time value of money and capital budgeting techniques, break-even analysis, operating and financial leverage, capital structure, and earnings per share (EPS). Advanced topics covered include: capital-budgeting, cash flow analysis, cost of capital, determining financial mix, dividend policy, financial forecasting, working-capital management, liquid asset management, and international business finance.
